We were never really drawn to rods longer than 15 feet, as the extra foot rarely felt worth it—until now. Mikael helped develop the first 16’ Sage rods in the mid-80s, but we’ve rarely used them since. With the S4, that has changed. This exceptionally light and well-balanced 16-footer is a dream for big rivers, offering extra reach, control, and the ability to slow down the fly—often the key to success in early season fishing. Despite its size and power, it remains effortless to cast, even during long days under the midnight sun. A firm favourite among our team members fishing the heavily flowing northern rivers.
